Sisi commends Trump’s efforts in Gaza ceasefire
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a telephone conversation today with U.S. President Donald Trump to congratulate him on his successful efforts toward ending the recent conflict in the Gaza Strip.
According to Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for Egypt’s presidency, President Sisi expressed sincere appreciation for President Trump’s personal commitment and determination to broker peace in the region, highlighting his pivotal role in halting the hostilities.
President Trump, in turn, expressed his great satisfaction with what he described as a historic achievement, and underlined his close friendship with President Sisi. Trump noted that, over recent days, the world's attention was focused on Egypt, particularly during the Sharm El-Sheikh negotiations, which ultimately led to the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
President Sisi called the new agreement “a historic accomplishment,” crediting President Trump’s sincere peace efforts. Sisi further remarked that Trump fully deserves to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of these endeavors.
The Egyptian leader also stressed the importance of moving forward with the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, emphasizing the role President Trump’s support and oversight could play in this next phase.
President Sisi concluded the call by inviting President Trump to attend a ceremony in Egypt marking the conclusion of the Gaza ceasefire agreement—a celebration of the collaborative efforts between Egypt, the United States, and international mediators. President Trump warmly welcomed the invitation, expressing his eagerness to visit Egypt and reaffirming his high regard for the country.
