Egypt, China launch $70 million glassware facility in Suez Zone
The Suez Canal Economic Zone has celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for “Deli Egypt Glassware,” a major new investment in household glass products, in the Ain Sokhna integrated industrial area. With an investment of $70 million, the project occupies 120,000 square meters and is expected to create 500 direct jobs. Notably, 80% of the plant’s production will be exported.
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, attended the event alongside Deli Group’s leadership and partners from China. He highlighted the zone’s success in attracting diverse international investments, especially from Chinese partners, reflecting deep strategic ties between Egypt and China. Mr. Gamal El-Din emphasized the supportive business environment of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, citing world-class infrastructure, streamlined services, and continued reforms to attract global investors.
Over the past three years, the Suez Canal Economic Zone has drawn nearly $8.5 billion in investment for 297 projects across its four industrial zones, underscoring its position as a dynamic regional hub for industrial growth and export.
The new Deli plant will be completed in two phases, with the first phase scheduled to open in the second half of 2026, further strengthening Egypt’s manufacturing base and export capacity.
