Egypt expresses solidarity with Qatar following attack on Doha
In a strong show of support, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Atty has delivered a message of solidarity and support from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
During his visit to Doha today, Dr. Abdel Atty conveyed the Egyptian President’s greetings and sincere appreciation to the Qatari leadership, reaffirming Egypt’s unwavering commitment to stand by Qatar in the wake of a recent Israeli strike on the Qatari capital. This visit comes under the direct instructions of President El-Sisi, underlining the depth of the relationship between the two nations.
Minister Abdel Atty firmly condemned the attack, describing it as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a grave breach of international law and the UN Charter. He emphasized that such actions not only target Qatar but also undermine collective Arab security, stressing that any threat to Qatar’s security is a direct threat to the security of the wider Arab world.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also offered heartfelt condolences to Emir Sheikh Tamim for the victims of the attack, expressing profound sympathy for those affected and their families.
For his part, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani thanked President El-Sisi for his timely outreach and solidarity, expressing deep appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast support. He highlighted the strong and enduring brotherly ties between the two nations, emphasizing that this gesture reflects the depth of cooperation and shared values between Egypt and Qatar.
