President Sisi, Chinese Premier Li Qiang strengthen strategic partnership in Cairo talks
CAIRO – In a significant diplomatic encounter aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Cairo today. The meeting brought together top officials from both nations, underscoring the flourishing partnership between Egypt and China.
According to an official statement from Egypt’s Presidential Spokesman, Premier Li Qiang conveyed warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, stressing President Sisi’s esteemed friendship and enduring popularity in Beijing. He praised the long history of partnership, mutual respect, and shared interests that binds the two countries, describing Egypt as a pillar of stability in the Middle East.
President Sisi echoed the sentiment, reaffirming Egypt's commitment to deepening collaboration with China across all sectors, particularly as the two nations approach the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2026. President Sisi also highlighted the important contributions of Chinese companies to Egypt’s ongoing development projects and expressed hopes for increased Chinese investment—especially in new and renewable energy, electric vehicle manufacturing, tourism, and broader industrial growth.
Both sides reiterated their intention to further coordinate on financial cooperation, including debt swaps and efficient implementation of partnership agreements.
The leaders also engaged in thorough discussions on pressing regional and international challenges. They jointly emphasized the need to uphold the ceasefire between Israel and Iran and to pursue diplomatic solutions to regional crises. There was a strong consensus on the urgent necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza, unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance, and advancing a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue.
This high-level meeting reflects a shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity, not just for Egypt and China, but for the broader international community.
The Chinese Premier arrived in Cairo on Wednesday for a two-day official visit, where he was warmly welcomed at the airport by Egypt’s Prime Minister.
