Egyptian, US FMs discuss efforts to end Gaza conflict

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, received a phone call on Monday, September 29, from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss the situation in Gaza.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary Rubio outlined President Donald Trump’s recent plan to halt the war in Gaza. The plan calls for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, increased humanitarian aid, and prevents both annexation and forced displacement.

Secretary Rubio emphasized the importance of continued close coordination with Egypt to help secure an end to the conflict, and he praised Egypt’s leading role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

Minister Abdel Aaty welcomed President Trump’s sincere efforts to deescalate the situation and expressed Egypt’s hope for a swift end to the fighting in Gaza to restore calm, stability, and security for all.

In their discussion, Minister Abdel Aaty stressed the urgent need for large-scale humanitarian aid to reach those in need, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the rejection of any annexation of the West Bank, and the prevention of any forced displacement of the Palestinian people.

He also underlined the importance of creating a political path toward a two-state solution, affirming the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of their state—steps seen as essential for lasting peace and stability for both Palestinians and Israelis.
