Egypt launches TV programs in 23 languages, a first in the Arab World

In an unprecedented step for the Arab world, Egypt’s National Media Authority has announced the production and broadcast of television programs in 23 different languages—expanding the country's voice and fostering new cultural connections worldwide.

Ahmed Al-Moslemani, head of the Authority, shared that Egyptian radio and television teams have already completed new productions in major African languages, including Swahili, Amharic, and Fula, with more languages currently in production.

This bold international outreach fulfills President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision to globalize Egyptian perspectives and strengthen cultural and media ties—especially with African nations.

The first program in this new series features Egyptian broadcaster Shafie Mibanda, who introduces the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo in Swahili. Shows will be tailored for audiences across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond—with episodes offered in languages such as Hausa, English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Indonesian, Urdu, and more.

Egypt’s Channel One will air the museum episode next week, complete with Swahili-to-Arabic subtitles, while Nile TV will present versions with English and French translations.

This initiative warmly invites global audiences to discover Egypt's rich history and culture, in a language that feels just like home.
