Shell ranks Egypt among top exploration markets

Alamein City – Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with Mr. Cedric Cremers, President of Shell Global Integrated Gas, to discuss the company’s current investments and ongoing activities in Egypt's energy sector. The meeting took place at the government headquarters in New Alamein City and was attended by Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, and Shell Egypt Chairperson, Mrs. Dalia El Gabry.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly reaffirmed the Egyptian government’s commitment to supporting Shell’s investments in the country. He highlighted the importance of Shell’s presence in the Egyptian market, which significantly benefits the nation’s energy sector. He also stressed that the government is dedicated to honoring its financial commitments with foreign partners in the oil and gas sector, as part of Egypt’s broader strategy to increase production and intensify exploration efforts across licensed areas.

Mr. Cremers expressed his eagerness to continue Shell’s collaboration with Egypt and noted that Egypt has become Shell’s fifth-ranked global market for exploration activities—a reflection of the country’s strategic importance within the company’s operations. He further highlighted ongoing joint efforts between Shell and the Egyptian government to develop the natural gas sector, including regional initiatives and meeting Egypt’s domestic gas needs.

Additionally, Mr. Cremers discussed Shell’s ambition to attract investment from Gulf countries into Egypt and to further support the government's plans to boost natural gas supplies. Minister Badawi acknowledged Shell’s role in increasing Egypt’s natural gas production and looked forward to further investments and collaboration, especially in deploying modern, environmentally-conscious technologies across the industry.

Mrs. Dalia El Gabry, Shell Egypt’s Chairperson, mentioned the company’s programs that support local communities and promote environmental and civil safety best practices.

The meeting concluded with Prime Minister Madbouly expressing his hope for increased Shell investments in light of promising opportunities in Egypt’s exploration sector, reaffirming the government’s continued support for foreign investment and its commitment to settling outstanding dues to international partners.
