Egypt welcomes historic peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration has issued a statement warmly welcoming the peace agreement reached between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The agreement, facilitated through U.S. mediation, marks a significant step toward fostering stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus region.

Egypt expressed optimism that the accord will pave the way for constructive collaboration between the two nations, strengthening the foundations of peace, security, and stability in the Caucasus. The ministry highlighted that this development aligns with the interests of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples and promotes regional prosperity and development.

The statement also praised the mediation efforts led by the United States under President Donald Trump, which were instrumental in brokering the agreement. Egypt voiced hope that the U.S.’s constructive diplomatic role could extend to the Middle East, contributing to peace and stability in the region.

Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, Egypt underscored its support for regional and international efforts to settle disputes through diplomacy and dialogue. The ministry emphasized the importance of upholding principles of good neighborliness and prioritizing dialogue to safeguard international peace and security.

This landmark agreement, signed at the White House on August 8, 2025, is seen as a historic milestone in resolving decades of conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The international community, including Egypt, views this as a promising step toward a more stable and prosperous Caucasus.
