Serbian PM delivers lecture on women’s health at Cairo University
Cairo, Egypt—In a remarkable display of international collaboration, Dr Đuro Macut, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, delivered a special lecture at Cairo University, focusing on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)—a common health concern affecting women worldwide.
The lecture, which took place at the historic Qasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, brought together key figures from both nations, including Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Ayman Ashour, University President Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdelsadek, senior faculty members, diplomats, and a large gathering of students.
During the event, Dr. Macut expressed deep appreciation for the prestigious Cairo University and the hospitality of its medical college. He shared the latest international research and treatment recommendations for PCOS, a condition linked to disorders such as diabetes and obesity, particularly among young women, according to the Middle East News Agency.
Dr. Macut highlighted his recent contributions, alongside international partners, to global treatment guidelines published in 2023.
Importantly, the Prime Minister emphasized the vital role of the media in raising health awareness about PCOS, underlining that collective understanding and education are key to supporting women’s health globally.
Minister Ashour praised the significance of the event, describing Cairo University as a beacon of knowledge and free thought in Egypt and the wider Arab region.
He highlighted that the exchange signifies the strong and enduring friendship between Egypt and Serbia, especially in the realms of higher education and scientific research—areas essential to building bridges of cooperation and cultural understanding between nations.
