Anime, Egyptian beats shine at ‘Music Without Borders’ Festival
The Japan Foundation, Cairo, celebrates its 30th anniversary with a joyful and inspiring event designed to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and Egypt.
To commemorate this special occasion, the Foundation is hosting a two-day festival entitled “Music Without Borders, Connecting Japan and Egypt” in partnership with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Embassy of Japan in Egypt.
The celebration will take place at the iconic Bibliotheca Alexandrina on Friday, October 24th, and Saturday, October 25th, 2025.
Reflecting the power of artistic exchange, the festival will feature three distinguished Japanese artists who have gained international recognition for their performances in popular Japanese animation (anime) series.
Their music, beloved by anime fans around the globe, will resonate across Alexandria alongside four Egyptian groups, with all performers coming together to create a vibrant, festival-style concert.
This collaboration aims to bridge cultures through music, offering new opportunities for audiences in both countries to discover and appreciate each other’s traditions.
The event also celebrates the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), which took place in August 2025, further highlighting the enduring friendship and cooperation between Japan and African nations.
As a gesture of ongoing dialogue and learning, the festival includes a music workshop led by renowned Japanese composer Tom-H@ck on Saturday, October 25th, inviting local musicians to engage directly with innovative musical techniques and perspectives.
Fans of Japanese culture will also have the opportunity to interact in a special meet-and-greet session designed to strengthen understanding and camaraderie.
Above all, “Music Without Borders, Connecting Japan and Egypt” seeks to inspire young people and foster a deeper appreciation of Japanese culture through the universal language of anime music.
The event is open to everyone, with free admission and no prior registration required, warmly inviting the whole community to enjoy this unique fusion of East and West.
