Egypt, Turkey seek deeper economic, logistics ties
Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk called on Thursday for deeper economic cooperation and stronger trade ties with Turkey during a bilateral meeting with Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek on the sidelines of the Istanbul Economic Forum.
Kouchouk emphasized Cairo’s commitment to achieving greater economic integration by enhancing trade flows, transport networks, and logistical connectivity between the two regional powers.
"We look forward to increasing economic cooperation and exchanging expertise with Turkey to develop fiscal policies that stimulate growth in both nations," Kouchouk said during the meeting.
The talks focused on joint cooperation in digital transformation, customs and tax reforms, and public procurement. Kouchouk highlighted Egypt's interest in drawing on Turkey's experience in streamlining administrative procedures to boost export competitiveness and broaden Egyptian access to global markets.
Both ministers also discussed expanding institutional development and human capacity-building through joint training programs aligned with international best practices.
