El-Sisi upholds Egypt’s commitment to regional peace in call with Cypriot leader
In a phone conversation today, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides focused on the urgent need for peace and stability in the Middle East.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of expanding conflict in the region and voiced deep concern over ongoing military operations, particularly those involving Israel. He warned that the continuation of violence would harm all peoples of the region without exception.
During the call, President El-Sisi highlighted the importance of stronger action from the international community to encourage responsible behaviour among regional powers. He underscored that peaceful solutions—not violence—can guarantee lasting security and stability.
President El-Sisi also advocated for renewed negotiations between the United States and Iran, with Oman’s mediation, describing this diplomatic path as the best way to ease tensions. Additionally, he reiterated Egypt’s steadfast call for a Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction.
At the heart of his message, President El-Sisi emphasized that true peace in the region depends on resolving the Palestinian issue. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, and the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, ensuring safety and dignity for all.
