Egypt’s President El-Sisi meets Trump at Davos
On the sidelines of the Davos Forum, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with US President Donald Trump to discuss strengthening their countries’ strategic partnership. Both leaders emphasized their commitment to enhancing economic and trade cooperation and highlighted their shared efforts for peace and stability in the region.
The talks also addressed important regional issues. President El-Sisi welcomed President Trump's initiative to create a Peace Council to help resolve regional conflicts, and praised US efforts to end fighting in Gaza and support reconstruction and humanitarian aid for Palestinians.
The leaders also discussed Sudan, agreeing on the importance of a humanitarian ceasefire and greater international efforts to help the Sudanese people. President El-Sisi appreciated US attention to Egypt’s vital Nile water concerns and called for increased cooperation among Nile basin countries.
Regarding Lebanon, President El-Sisi stressed the need for continued US support to protect Lebanon’s sovereignty and help its institutions serve the people.
