Egypt’s Finance Minister pledges no tax increases in new budget
Egypt’s Finance Minister, Ahmed Kouchouk, announced that there will be no increases in taxes in the country’s new budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The minister emphasized that the government’s priority is to broaden the tax base rather than raise existing tax rates, describing this approach as beneficial for everyone.
Kouchouk made these remarks during a press conference announcing the preliminary results of Egypt’s latest tax facilitation measures. He highlighted that a large segment of the business community has responded positively to these measures, significantly contributing to the achievement of revenue targets over the past eleven months.
The finance minister also indicated that more incentive packages will be introduced in the next fiscal year to encourage both current and new taxpayers to participate in the system. He praised the “strong and effective partnership” with Egypt’s tax community, noting their vital role in supporting recent positive financial indicators.
The announcement is seen as part of Egypt’s continued efforts to improve its investment climate, support business activity, and maintain economic stability.
