Al-Azhar Grand Imam strongly condemns Israeli strikes on Iran
Cairo — The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, has issued a strong condemnation of the recent Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Writing on his official Facebook page, Sheikh El-Tayeb denounced what he described as “systematic aggression” by Israel, warning that such actions threaten to drag the region to the brink of a widespread war.
The respected religious leader criticized the continued escalation and stated that only "merchants of blood and weapons" stand to benefit from such conflicts. He also expressed serious concern that the international community’s silence in the face of these attacks amounts to complicity, and ultimately puts global security at risk.
Sheikh El-Tayeb concluded his statement by emphasizing that war cannot create peace, and called for unity to prevent further violence in the region.
