Egypt and Jordan welcome arrival of floating LNG unit to boost energy cooperation

Aqaba, Jordan – Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced the arrival of the floating regasification unit “Energeous Force” at Aqaba Port in Jordan. This strategic move aims to strengthen regional energy cooperation and ensure secure natural gas supplies for both countries.

The new unit, which will be connected to the Arab Gas Pipeline, is expected to add flexibility and resilience to Egypt’s natural gas network. The step reflects the close partnership between Egypt and Jordan and their shared commitment to leveraging existing infrastructure for mutual benefit. Once operational, the unit will convert liquefied natural gas (LNG) back into its gaseous form and feed it into the regional grid, supporting local industries and electricity needs, especially during peak demand.

Egypt’s state gas company, EGAS, secured the floating unit as part of a wider initiative to diversify the country’s energy sources, respond swiftly to emergencies, and guarantee steady supplies for vital sectors.

The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to continuously upgrading Egypt’s gas infrastructure and strengthening regional cooperation to meet the energy needs of citizens and industries alike.
