Egypt and Tunisia strengthen ties, pledge greater regional collaboration
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi hosted Tunisian Prime Minister Sarah Zafrani at Cairo’s Al-Ittihadiya Palace today, as the two North African nations recommitted themselves to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding strategic cooperation.
The meeting, which included Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and senior officials from both countries, focused on deepening collaboration across a range of fields ahead of the 18th session of the Egypt-Tunisia Joint Higher Committee, set to convene in Cairo.
President Sisi praised Tunisian President Kais Saied for his commitment to economic reform and sustainable development in Tunisia, calling him a “dear brother” and highlighting shared aspirations for stability and prosperity in the region.
Discussions covered enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, and development projects, with both sides emphasizing the importance of private sector involvement—especially in joint ventures across the African continent. The leaders also exchanged views on key regional and international issues, agreeing to coordinate closely in addressing common challenges and working towards peaceful solutions to regional crises.
Prime Minister Zafrani conveyed President Saied’s warm greetings and invited President Sisi for an official visit to Tunisia, while President Sisi renewed his invitation for his Tunisian counterpart to attend the Grand Egyptian Museum's grand opening in November 2025.
The meeting signals a renewed commitment by both Egypt and Tunisia to work together towards greater integration, economic growth, and stability in North Africa and beyond.
