Egypt prepares to host International Handball Super Globe 2025
Egypt is enthusiastically gearing up to welcome some of the world’s most prestigious handball clubs as it prepares to host the IHF Men’s Super Globe 2025. The global championship will take place from September 26 to October 2, with teams from across the continents competing for top honors.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, followed up on the country’s preparations for the major event during a meeting with Captain Khaled Fathy, President of the Egyptian Handball Federation and Chairperson of the Super Globe Organizing Committee, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Minister Sobhy emphasized the importance of thorough planning and cooperation with all stakeholders to ensure the success of this international event. He called for an immediate finalization of tournament committees and continuous supervision of preparations to provide a seamless and welcoming experience for all participants and visitors.
Highlighting Egypt's impressive sporting infrastructure, Dr. Sobhy reassured that every possible support will be extended to the organizing committee and the Egyptian Handball Federation, reflecting the country’s position as a premier destination for world sporting events.
Among the illustrious clubs competing this year are Egypt’s own Al Ahly and Zamalek, Spain’s Barcelona, Germany’s Magdeburg, Hungary’s Veszprém, the UAE’s Sharjah, Brazil’s Taubaté, California Eagles from the USA, and the University of Sydney from Australia. A European “wild card” team will also join the contest, adding to the event’s excitement and diversity.
The organizational meeting was also attended by senior ministry officials, including Dr. Ashraf El-Bagarmi, Head of the Sports Sector, Mohamed El-Kurdi, Director of Central Sports Performance, Dr. Mohamed El-Shazly, Director of Media Affairs, along with Sharif Hanafi, the Egyptian Handball Federation’s media advisor.
