Egypt and France strengthen civil aviation ties following Paris Air Show
Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, welcomed French Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Eric Chevallier, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry headquarters, following the Minister’s recent participation in the Paris Air Show, held in the French capital in June 2025.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the long-standing relationship between Egypt and France in the field of civil aviation. They explored opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as air navigation and meteorological services, aligning with international best practices in this vital sector.
Minister El-Hefny expressed his appreciation for the French government’s notable efforts in organizing the Paris Air Show, highlighting the wide international participation and flawless event management. He underscored the significance of Egypt’s participation, describing it as a valuable opportunity to discover the latest advancements in global aviation technology and to forge new partnerships with leading companies from around the world.
Building on the positive outcomes from the Paris Air Show, Dr. El-Hefny emphasized the importance of expanding technical and investment collaboration between Egypt and France. He noted the crucial role of the bilateral air transport agreement in facilitating regular flight operations and increasing air connectivity—particularly as travel and tourism from France to Egypt continues to grow. He remarked that this enhanced partnership would bolster tourism flows and stimulate greater trade between the two nations.
The Egyptian Minister also voiced his ministry’s keen interest in further developing cooperation with France in meteorological services, including the exchange of technical expertise and adapting the latest global technologies in weather forecasting.
French Ambassador Chevallier, in turn, welcomed Minister El-Hefny’s visit to France and his active participation at the Paris Air Show, also known as “Le Bourget.” Ambassador Chevallier highlighted the fruitful discussions with French industry leaders, which reflected the depth of the bilateral relationship and paved the way for long-term strategic partnerships. He praised Egypt’s recent achievements in the civil aviation sector and affirmed France’s desire to deepen technical and investment ties, leveraging the historic and dynamic relationship between the two countries to advance the aviation industry.
