Iranian FM stresses importance of dialogue with Egypt to boost regional stability

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has emphasized the importance of ongoing consultations with Egypt to broaden bilateral relations and promote peace and stability in the region. The remarks came during a meeting with Mojtaba Ferdowsi Pour, newly-appointed head of Iran’s Interests Section in Cairo.

According to Iranian news agency Mehr, Ferdowsi Pour met with Minister Araghchi on Saturday night before departing for Egypt. During their meeting, he presented a detailed report on the current state of Tehran-Cairo relations, as well as a plan to enhance and strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Minister Araghchi welcomed the growing communications and meetings between Iranian and Egyptian officials, expressing hope that this positive momentum would continue.

Ferdowsi Pour has previously served as Iran’s acting representative in Jordan and Lebanon, and was head of the Center for Arabian Gulf and Middle East Studies at the Institute for Political and International Studies.

The appointment and increased engagement come at a time of renewed diplomatic efforts by both countries to foster regional dialogue and stability.
