Egypt launches inclusive summer museum program for people of determination

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, has announced the launch of the second season of its pioneering summer school for People of Determination, under the inspiring banner “Discover.”

Set across the nation’s fascinating archaeological museums, this thoughtful initiative invites participants of all ages to immerse themselves in enriching interactive and artistic experiences throughout the summer holidays.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, highlighted that this unique program is part of the Ministry’s broader mission to elevate cultural and touristic awareness, and to ensure that Egypt’s ancient treasures are accessible to everyone.

The program also aligns with Egypt’s strong commitment to inclusive tourism, providing world-class experiences for all members of society.

This year’s summer school, running from mid-June to mid-September, offers two dedicated programs: one tailored for visiting children and adults of determination, and another to empower a new team of volunteers drawn from caring university students and graduates.

These passionate volunteers, trained from fields such as social work and special education, will help make every museum visit welcoming, supportive, and joyfully interactive.

Adding to the excitement, Dr. Heba Abd El-Aziz, General Manager of Special Needs at the Museums Sector, announced that the 2024 program shines a spotlight on cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence designed to enhance accessibility.

From hands-on workshops in digital tools and heritage crafts, to lively interactive theatre, inspiring personal development sessions, and a vibrant closing art exhibition, every aspect is crafted to empower, uplift, and celebrate creativity.

At the heart of this initiative is a belief that Egypt’s heritage belongs to everyone—and every effort has been made to open the doors of history wider than ever before. As the summer school culminates in a festival and exhibition showcasing participants’ creations, certificates of appreciation will honour their talents and passion.
