Chinese investment in Egypt’s renewable energy set to increase
Chinese companies are poised to boost investments in Egypt’s renewable energy sector, following high-level talks between Egyptian and Chinese officials at the Shanghai Conference on Renewable Energy and Clean Energy Solutions.
The meeting, attended by Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, and China’s National Energy Administration Chairman, Wang Hongzhi, focused on expanding Chinese business operations in Egypt—particularly in manufacturing solar panels, wind turbines, and battery storage systems.
Egypt aims to become a regional clean energy hub and is offering incentives to attract Chinese technology and capital.
Both sides underscored their confidence in further cooperation, with experts noting strong local demand and a supportive investment environment in Egypt’s energy market.
