The discussions covered the strategic framework for bilateral cooperation, including cultural exchanges and high-level communication. The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of a recent visit by a Danish parliamentary delegation to Egypt, which underscored the importance of private sector involvement.
A key proposal discussed was the establishment of a joint business council comprising representatives from both countries.
This council aims to serve as an institutional platform to boost investments and facilitate expertise exchange. El-Khatib noted that Egypt seeks a diverse representation in the council, covering sectors such as industry, energy, agriculture, and services, reflecting the multifaceted nature of the Egyptian economy and its capacity to attract varied investments.
The Minister highlighted Egypt’s efforts to create a favorable investment climate for Danish businesses through government incentives and ongoing business environment reforms aimed at streamlining procedures and enhancing private sector partnerships. He identified agriculture and maritime sectors as priority areas for cooperation, leveraging Egypt’s strategic location and logistical capabilities alongside Denmark’s advanced expertise in these fields.
El-Khatib stressed the importance of involving high-level business leaders in the joint business council to drive project implementation, knowledge transfer, and efficient investment decision-making. He affirmed that the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones would serve as the primary point of contact to coordinate efforts and monitor joint projects to achieve tangible results.
Ambassador Møller expressed Denmark’s pride in its strong relationship with Egypt and outlined plans to deepen ties between economic and cultural institutions. He emphasized Denmark’s interest in holding more high-level meetings, including mutual visits by senior officials, to establish practical cooperation frameworks and expand investment partnerships across various sectors.
