Egypt and Brazil forge strategic partnership to enhance pharmaceutical oversight
The Egyptian Drug Authority and Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen regulatory cooperation and exchange expertise in the pharmaceutical sector.
The agreement, signed by Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy of the Egyptian Drug Authority and Dr. Romison Rodrigues Mota of ANVISA, marks a significant step in expanding international collaboration and advancing medical product standards in both countries.
Egyptian officials highlighted that the partnership reflects growing global confidence in Egypt’s regulatory framework and leadership in the region. "This memorandum demonstrates international trust in the Egyptian Drug Authority’s role and advanced standards," said Dr. El-Ghamrawy. He also noted the authority’s commitment to leveraging international expertise to ensure safe and effective medicines for Egyptian and Brazilian markets.
Dr. Mota from ANVISA described the collaboration as a strategic move to develop regulatory systems and promote scientific and technical exchanges. Brazilian officials commended Egypt’s progress in pharmaceutical regulation and expressed hope that this cooperation would lead to joint research, training initiatives, and enhanced safety standards.
The agreement is expected to foster innovation, support investment, and strengthen the regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals in both Egypt and Brazil—ultimately benefiting patients and public health in both countries.
