Senior Chinese delegation visits NMEC in Cairo
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) recently welcomed a high-level delegation from the People’s Republic of China, led by Li Shulei, head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and a member of the Politburo.
The group included China’s Ambassador to Egypt, Liao Liqiang, as well as Zhang Xin, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center and Cultural and Tourism Advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo. Their visit to Egypt is part of a broader regional tour of Arab countries.
Al-Tayeb Abbas, CEO of the Museum Authority, greeted the delegation and personally guided them through the museum’s main galleries and reception areas. The tour highlighted the museum’s impressive collection, which traces Egypt’s history from ancient times to the present day, showcasing the country’s rich and diverse heritage.
During the visit, Li Shulei expressed his admiration for the museum’s artifacts and praised the innovative ways they are displayed, which blend authenticity with modern design. He also complimented the museum’s unique architecture and how well it fits in with the surrounding historic area.
Dr. Abbas took the opportunity to talk about the museum’s role in promoting cultural awareness and encouraging exchanges between nations through events, exhibitions, and heritage activities. At the end of the tour, Dr. Abbas presented Li Shulei with a special souvenir as a gesture of friendship.
Li Shulei thanked the museum staff for their warm welcome and excellent organization. He emphasized the strong cultural and historical ties between Egypt and China and stressed the importance of further cooperation in heritage preservation and cultural exchange.
The visit underscores both countries’ ongoing commitment to strengthening cultural dialogue and building bridges between their ancient civilizations.
