Egypt launches first-of-its-kind interactive educational app for children

Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt has announced the launch of “5Seconds”—the country’s first interactive educational app designed to provide children with an engaging and values-based learning experience.

The initiative is part of the presidential program “Bedaya” (“A New Beginning to Build the Egyptian Citizen”), spearheaded by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population.

The “5Seconds” app is available free of charge to children across Egypt. It aims to instill positive social values, develop emotional intelligence, and enhance life skills through entertaining, drama-based scenarios inspired by real-life situations. Children interact with short stories and make decisions that influence the outcome, helping them practice critical thinking and understand the consequences of their choices in a fun and educational way.

Featuring 42 short films performed by Egyptian school students, the app draws from children’s everyday experiences to reinforce the impact of small decisions. Using an interactive storytelling approach, “5Seconds” turns children into active participants rather than passive viewers, making the experience both exciting and immersive.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministerial Group for Human Development, emphasized that the launch of “5Seconds” reflects the Bedaya initiative’s commitment to positive education and building a conscious generation capable of meeting modern challenges.

“Through this app, we aim to empower children to make informed decisions via an enjoyable learning experience, leveraging the latest technology to reach every corner of Egypt and support the state’s vision for human development,” he said.

Sandra Nashaat, director of the “5Seconds” app, added, “Our goal is to create a unique educational experience that combines art and technology. The app places the child at the center of the story, encouraging them to learn through their own choices. We hope to instill positive values and encourage conscious behavior in a way that resonates with the new generation.”

The launch of “5Seconds” aligns with the broader goals of the Bedaya initiative, which supports Egyptian youth and children through comprehensive programs in education, health, and culture—aimed at improving quality of life and building a better future by investing in human development from an early age.
