Egypt and UNDP expand joint health projects
Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met with Mr. Alessandro Fracassetti, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt, in a high-level meeting aimed at enhancing cooperation in health and human development.
Welcoming the UNDP delegation, Minister Abdel Ghaffar congratulated Mr. Fracassetti on his impactful service in Cairo, expressing appreciation for the ongoing partnership between the Egyptian Ministry of Health and UNDP. The meeting served as an opportunity to highlight the shared achievements and to honor UNDP’s contributions to the country’s progress.
Discussions focused on existing collaborative programs, funding strategies, and future visions for collaboration, with special attention paid to the ongoing project to upgrade the Medical Waste Management Complex in Suez Governorate. Dr. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of setting a clear timeline for enhancing infrastructure, instructing the Ministry’s team to work closely with UNDP counterparts.
Both sides also explored further cooperation in human development, aligning with Egypt’s national priorities to empower citizens and improve the quality of public services. Minister Abdel Ghaffar underscored the value of consistent collaboration and coordination, especially in view of the upcoming World Conference on Health, Population, and Development scheduled for November.
Mr. Fracassetti, in turn, praised Egypt’s dedicated efforts in advancing human development. He reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to supporting Egypt in achieving measurable results that benefit the well-being of all citizens.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials from the Ministry of Health and UNDP’s Egypt Office, reflecting the strong spirit of partnership. Both parties reiterated their commitment to continued collaboration to further Egypt’s health and development goals.
