The Naguib Mahfouz Studio opens in Cairo
In a heartwarming celebration of Egypt’s rich heritage, Cairo’s iconic Maspero building—home to national radio and television—has just unveiled its spectacular new “Naguib Mahfouz Studio,” named in honor of Egypt’s beloved Nobel laureate and literary genius, Naguib Mahfouz.
A view like no other
Perched high on the 27th floor, this beautifully designed studio offers a breathtaking view that seems to capture the very spirit of Egypt. From its windows, you can gaze at the timeless Nile and the majestic Giza Pyramids in a single, panoramic sweep—a scene few places in the world can offer. This setting not only inspires creativity but also stands as a proud symbol of Egypt’s ancient and modern achievements.
A home for Egyptian identity
At the heart of the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno, Egypt’s Minister of Culture, spoke with deep admiration about Naguib Mahfouz. He described the studio as a fitting tribute to a writer whose stories have touched hearts and minds around the globe, and who forever belongs to the world’s literary heritage. The Minister noted that the studio will become a hub for programs devoted to Egyptian culture, art, and tradition—helping both locals and visitors discover the soul of the nation.
A window to the world
Mr. Ahmed Al-Muslimani, head of the National Media Authority, emphasized that the studio has been equipped with the most advanced broadcasting technology, meeting the highest international standards.
From here, a new line-up of morning and evening shows will present vibrant social and cultural content, reaching diverse audiences both in Egypt and across the Arab world.
Excitingly, the studio has also revealed a remarkable discovery: a rare audio recording of Naguib Mahfouz himself, sharing personal memories from his fascinating life. This treasure will soon take center stage in a special documentary series, offering audiences an intimate look at the life and thoughts of one of the world’s greatest storytellers.
