Chinese textile leaders explore investment in Suez Canal Economic Zone
The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) received a high-ranking Chinese business delegation today at its headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
Led by Mr. Li Xin, Vice President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), the delegation comprised 15 representatives from major textile and garment companies as well as provincial trade associations from across China—including Qingdao (Shandong), Ningbo and Yiwu (Zhejiang), Xiamen (Fujian), and Shanghai.
This visit, organized in collaboration with the Egyptian Commercial Service, reflects Egypt’s efforts to attract more foreign direct investment in its manufacturing sectors. Welcoming the delegation, SCZone Chairman Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din highlighted the region’s competitive advantages for global investors and stressed the strategic importance of the textile and garment industry in SCZone’s vision for industrial development.
"Our latest promotional roadshow in China has reinforced growing confidence in Egypt’s investment climate. We look forward to establishing further promising partnerships in the industrial sector in the near future," said Mr. Gamal El-Din. He noted that special zones have been allocated in the Qantara West area specifically to support the textile sector, which already hosts 21 Chinese textile projects to date. Additionally, 18 companies are now operating in the Ain Sokhna industrial zone—demonstrating the region’s appeal thanks to its world-class infrastructure, skilled workforce, and attractive incentives for investors.
Mr. Li Xin, head of the Chinese delegation, expressed his delight at visiting SCZone. He underscored the region’s strong reputation among Chinese investors and praised Egypt’s efforts to simplify business processes—especially its efficient “one-stop shop” services. Mr. Li also indicated a rising interest among Chinese garment and textile companies to expand their presence in Egypt.
Today’s visit follows a successful promotional tour by SCZone leaders to several Chinese cities, which further deepened economic ties and mutual trust between the two countries.
This ongoing collaboration is expected to boost job creation, deepen supply chains, and foster sustainable development in Egypt’s flourishing industrial sector—not only benefiting both economies, but also reinforcing global trade networks along the historic Suez Canal.
