Egypt reports over 18 million traffic violations in 6 months

Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has announced that more than 18 million traffic violations were recorded nationwide in the first half of 2025. The campaign, led by the General Directorate of Traffic, focused on roads across all provinces to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety.


From January to June 2025, authorities documented 18,063,363 violations, including a wide range of offenses. Notably, heavy transport vehicles accounted for over 400,000 violations such as overloading, driving on the wrong side of the road, and carrying passengers in cargo areas.


Speeding was among the most prevalent infractions, with over 8.6 million cases reported. Additionally, nearly 287,000 drivers were caught without a valid license, and more than 2.9 million violations involved illegal parking.


Officials emphasized the ongoing commitment to upholding traffic regulations and ensuring public safety for all road users in Egypt.
