Egypt reaffirms steadfast support for Gaza: Not a single day without aid

Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, has once again underscored his country’s unwavering commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, declaring that Egypt “has not hesitated for even a single day” in sending much-needed aid to its Palestinian neighbors.

Speaking at a weekly press conference alongside cabinet ministers in the vibrant coastal city of New Alamein on Wednesday, Dr. Madbouly set a tone of solidarity and transparency.

“Our support goes back over seventy years, and it has never wavered,” Dr. Madbouly emphasized. “Since the very first moment of the recent crisis last October, Egypt’s position has been clear and principled—work for a ceasefire, deliver humanitarian aid, and seek the release of all hostages.”

The Prime Minister firmly rejected what he described as a “coordinated campaign of misinformation” questioning Egypt’s role in providing relief to Gaza. “It pains us to see such narratives suggesting that Egypt is withholding aid, when in reality, we have been striving tirelessly, even in the face of formidable obstacles,” he said.

He explained that while Egypt’s side of the Rafah crossing remains ready to facilitate the entry of supplies, the situation is complicated by the current control of the opposite side by Israeli forces and severe infrastructure damage. “The Rafah crossing is not simply ‘a gate’ that Egypt can open or close unilaterally,” Dr. Madbouly stated. “The reality on the ground is far more complex, but we have continued to send aid through every available channel.”

Egyptian ministers, he noted, visit the border regularly to ensure the process is as smooth as possible. Despite these efforts, hundreds of aid trucks have sat waiting for days—or even weeks—hoping for entry permission. At times, over 1,200 vehicles carrying food and medical supplies have been lined up, with delays sometimes leading to the spoilage of vital cargo.

“We have borne significant material and economic losses,” Dr. Madbouly admitted, referencing the dramatic impact on Egypt’s economy, including a 60% decrease in revenues from the vital Suez Canal due to the ongoing conflict. “Yet despite these sacrifices, we stand by the people of Gaza, offering medical care to the injured and shelter to displaced families whenever possible.”

Egypt continues to play a central role in regional diplomacy. “There can be no sustainable peace without a two-state solution,” reiterated Dr. Madbouly. He highlighted recent United Nations-led summits where participating nations echoed Egypt’s call for an urgent, time-bound plan to establish an independent Palestinian state and reunify Gaza and the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority. "The world must recognize: famine is a war crime, and the urgency to rebuild is greater than ever."

The Prime Minister concluded with hope: “We are ready to lead the reconstruction of Gaza, and we long for the day the bombs stop so that healing can begin. Egypt will always be a compassionate neighbor, unwavering in its duty of humanity.”
