Indian ambassador highlights importance of Egyptian foreign minister’s visit

In a significant development for regional diplomacy, Indian Ambassador to Egypt Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy welcomed the current visit of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Adel Aati to India, emphasizing its great importance for both nations.

Ambassador Reddy noted that India deeply values its strategic partnership with Egypt. This visit marks the inaugural “Strategic Dialogue” between the two countries, and comes on the heels of the successful peace summit hosted in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday. The Ambassador extended heartfelt congratulations to Egypt for its leadership role in achieving this historic milestone.

He reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for Egypt, as well as its allies, particularly in areas of rehabilitation and reconstruction. Ambassador Reddy also reflected on India’s long-standing, principled support for Palestine, reminding that India was one of the first non-Arab nations to recognize Palestine in 1988. Since then, India has provided financial aid, launched numerous projects, and hosted capacity-building initiatives for the Palestinian people.

Looking forward, Ambassador Reddy expressed India’s sincere intent to work hand-in-hand with the international community. “India remains committed to restoring peace in the region and supporting the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for an independent state,” he affirmed.

The visit of Egypt’s Foreign Minister is expected to further strengthen the warm and cooperative ties between India and Egypt, opening new avenues for partnership in the years to come.
