Egypt hosts closing of 5th International Fitness Championship 2025
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, attended via video conference on Saturday the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the “International Fitness Championship 2025” (Al-Fit), held at the Sports City in the New Administrative Capital’s “Club of Clubs.”
Organized by the Egyptian Federation for Street Sports, Fitness and Competitive Sports in cooperation with the International Functional Fitness Federation (IF3) and under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the three-day event attracted 500 male and female athletes from 40 countries and drew more than 20,000 spectators.
In his speech, Dr. Sobhy described the championship as one of the world’s largest fitness events, highlighting its contribution to sports tourism through 2,000 booked hotel nights and demonstrating Egypt’s ability to host and manage major international competitions.
The minister praised the collaboration between the Egyptian Fitness Federation and IF3, noting that the event supports the political leadership’s directives to promote a culture of physical activity.
Dr. Sobhy also announced the upcoming “Alpha” championship, scheduled for December 6, in partnership with Explode Company. The event will be the first sports competition ever held inside the Grand Egyptian Museum, featuring 1,200 athletes from 50 countries. He called it “a unique global event that reflects Egypt’s civilizational stature and capacity to host the world’s biggest sporting occasions.”
The minister expressed pride that IF3 has entrusted Egypt with hosting the 2027 World Fitness Championship, adding that the Egyptian Federation, backed by the Ministry, has officially applied to host the “Fitness Olympics 2028” – the largest global fitness event, expected to bring 4,000 athletes from around the world.
The championship aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative “Building the Human… Sport as a Way of Life,” aimed at encouraging regular exercise and improving the physical and mental health of Egyptian citizens.
This year’s program featured eight diverse disciplines, including running, swimming, weightlifting, competitive fitness, calisthenics, strongman, rowing, and a fitness triathlon (run–swim–cycle), alongside junior competitions and “Lift It” and “Rookies” categories.
