Bosch opens first appliance factory in Egypt and Africa

Cairo, Egypt – In a milestone for the region’s manufacturing industry, German home appliances giant BSH, owner of the Bosch brand, inaugurated its first factory in Egypt and Africa today.

The new facility, located in the 10th of Ramadan City, represents an investment of over €55 million and will produce gas ovens and cookers primarily for export across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.

Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly led the inauguration alongside government officials and BSH leadership. The event underscores Egypt’s growing appeal as a destination for international manufacturing and investment. The Prime Minister emphasized that recent government reforms and incentives have helped attract leading global companies to the Egyptian market.

BSH executives announced that the new plant will create around 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and initially allocate 50% of its production for export, targeting key markets including Australia, Canada, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Introducing advanced engineering and sustainable practices, the facility is expected to produce over 350,000 appliances annually.

"Egypt is becoming a major launchpad into regional markets," said Luis Álvarez, BSH General Manager for Egypt and Morocco. "We are proud to integrate Egyptian talent and skills into our global network, and confident this factory will set a benchmark for innovation and industrial excellence in Africa."

The opening ceremony included a tour of the high-tech plant, designed to international standards and with a focus on both automation and skilled local workforce utilization.

BSH officials highlighted the factory’s fully integrated manufacturing processes, tailored to harness Egypt’s competitive advantages such as its strategic location, robust supplier network, and qualified workforce.

Prime Minister Madbouly commended the professionalism and ambition of the Bosch team, expressing full support for future expansion plans. BSH representatives conveyed their gratitude to the Egyptian government for its continuous support, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainable development and value-added job creation in the region.
