Egypt and UAE discuss boosting energy and mining cooperation
Florence, Italy – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, held talks with Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, to explore fresh opportunities for collaboration and investment in oil, gas, and mining.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual Baker Hughes international conference. Both parties discussed enhancing the strategic partnership between Egypt and the UAE in energy—a sector where Emirati companies have already made significant investments in Egypt, and Egyptian firms contribute to major energy projects in the UAE.
Egypt highlighted new incentives aimed at attracting investment in oil and gas exploration, inviting leading UAE companies to seize growing opportunities via Egypt’s Digital Exploration and Production Gateway (EUG). Talks also addressed technical cooperation, including knowledge transfer on unconventional oil and gas resources and the use of artificial intelligence in exploration.
Further areas of discussion included promising opportunities in petrochemicals, green hydrogen projects, energy efficiency programs, and the booming mining sector, where recent reforms have created a favorable investment climate.
Both countries reiterated their commitment to strengthening their energy partnership and deepening cooperation in the period ahead.
