Chinese Ambassador: Egypt-China partnership sets new benchmarks
Relations between China and Egypt have witnessed notable advances in recent years, emerging as a shining example of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual benefit among China, the Arab world, African nations, and other developing countries.
This remarkable growth, as highlighted by Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang, is the result of visionary leadership from both countries’ presidents, as well as the harmonization of strategic initiatives like China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt’s "Vision 2030" development plan.
Over the past years, he said, the partnership has produced tangible results spanning various fields.
“Chinese firms have contributed to building Africa’s tallest skyscraper in Egypt, launched the country’s first electric light rail system, and participated in the largest modernization project of Egypt’s power grid,” the ambassador said.
“Thanks to Chinese support, Egypt has also emerged as a central hub for the fiberglass industry in Africa, and as the continent’s first nation to possess full capabilities to assemble and test satellites.”
Beyond infrastructure, Chinese companies have played a pivotal role in initiatives to improve lives for ordinary Egyptians.
Over the past nine years, they have helped dig more than 680 water wells in desert areas, gradually transforming barren land into fertile agricultural fields. Meanwhile, technology giant Huawei has contributed to the country’s digital transformation by providing advanced ICT training for around 40,000 Egyptian youth.”
The China-Egypt partnership goes beyond technology and construction, blossoming in the area of people-to-people exchanges.
Programs focusing on education, culture, heritage, tourism, and media have flourished, deepening mutual understanding and forging closer bonds between the two ancient civilizations.
According to Ambassador Liao, these wide-ranging collaborations lay a strong foundation for a comprehensive strategic partnership that both countries are keen to sustain and expand.
