Egypt launches 30-Day challenge and Alamein Marathon to promote healthy living
Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has unveiled the fourth edition of its pioneering "30-Day Challenge" program, alongside the announcement of this year’s highly anticipated Marathon Alamein. The initiatives, which seek to promote sports and healthy living among Egyptian youth and communities at large, were formally introduced this week at a press conference attended by key partners and public figures.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, emphasized that these social sports initiatives are a top priority for the country’s leadership, viewing the "30-Day Challenge" as a vital element in shaping the lifestyles of Egypt’s next generation. “We are committed to building a sports-conscious generation and supporting the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for health and human development,” Dr. Sobhy said.
The "30-Day Challenge" encourages citizens—especially young people—to engage in daily physical activities and adopt better health habits over the course of a month. This year, the program will adopt innovative digital engagement strategies to reach an even wider and more diverse audience, with a special focus on inclusivity.
Dr. Sobhy highlighted the program’s signature blend of technology and sports, ensuring interactivity via online platforms. The initiative intends to motivate thousands of participants through daily competitions, prizes, and interactive events—a reflection of Egypt’s belief that public health and fitness are national imperatives.
Marathon Alamein, which has rapidly become a fixture on Egypt’s sporting calendar, will also be taking place this year. Dr. Sobhy described the marathon as “a continuation of the country’s success in organizing major sporting events,” and revealed plans to elevate it to an annual international event held on Egyptian soil.
The press conference saw the participation of top executives from supporting companies such as Presentation Live, SAIB Bank, City Edge Developments, and Adidas Egypt & Morocco, alongside prominent community and media figures.
Mohamed Morgan, Chairman of Presentation Live, called the “30-Day Challenge” more than just a sporting event: “It is a way of life, a call to self-discovery and breaking the routine, fostering well-being far from the complexities and pressures of daily life,” he said.
Tamer Nasr, CEO of City Edge, added, “True development is not only about constructing buildings but nurturing communities and investing in people. We’re proud to support a movement that aims to embed healthy, active living as the norm in Egyptian society.”
The project aligns closely with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s vision, which places the building of human capital at the heart of Egypt’s development strategy, and recognizes sport as one of its crucial foundations.
Both the "30-Day Challenge" and Marathon Alamein are seen as important steps in fostering a healthier, more vibrant generation—a model Egypt hopes will inspire similar initiatives across the region and the world.
