Arab Ministers Council laud Egyptian Red Crescent’s Gaza aid efforts

Amman, Jordan – The Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs has given heartfelt recognition to the Egyptian Red Crescent for its vital role in delivering life-saving humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. This took place during the Council’s 45th session, held in Amman, with the participation of Dr. Maya Morsy, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity and Chair of the Council’s Executive Bureau.

In a joint statement, the Council also extended its gratitude to the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, applauding both organizations’ significant efforts to coordinate and deliver urgently needed social and humanitarian assistance to Palestinians. Their work, in partnership with Arab Red Crescent societies and relevant institutions, has become a powerful example of regional solidarity and compassion.

During her opening remarks, Dr. Maya Morsy expressed pride in what she described as “a truly inspiring humanitarian effort” led by the Egyptian Red Crescent. She highlighted the organization’s “Zad Al-Izza – From Egypt to Gaza” convoys, which have dispatched 95 aid missions in the past four months alone, delivering an impressive 730,000 tons of aid since October 8, 2023. This includes support from the Council itself, Arab Health Ministers, UN agencies, and donor nations from the Arab world and beyond.

Currently, these convoys are especially focused on providing essential winter relief—such as tents, blankets, and warm clothing—to help Palestinians in Gaza cope with harsh winter conditions alongside ongoing humanitarian challenges.

Dr. Morsy also underlined Egypt’s evolving role as a global logistics hub for humanitarian aid to Gaza. She noted that this effort is guided by direct instructions and unwavering support from Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the country’s leadership, with Egypt working tirelessly since the earliest days of the crisis to ensure aid reaches those in greatest need.

The Council’s recognition affirms the vital impact of regional and international cooperation in responding to humanitarian crises, and highlights the ongoing commitment of both Egypt and Jordan to stand with the Palestinian people in their time of need.
