Egypt, Serbia PMs tour Africa Health ExCon 2026
Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Makut toured the Africa Health ExCon 2026 exhibition in Cairo on Monday after Madbouly attended the opening on behalf of President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi, according to a government statement.
The fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon, held under the slogan “Health Sovereignty in Africa: Leadership, Resilience and Self‑Reliance,” brings together leading global and local manufacturers of medicines, medical devices and healthcare technologies. Madbouly and Makut were accompanied by Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Unified Procurement Authority head Hisham Sateet, Egyptian Drug Authority chief Ali El‑Ghamrawy and several cabinet ministers.
Organised by Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority under the patronage of President Sisi, the conference and exhibition runs from June 15 to 18. It hosts presidential health adviser Mohamed Awad Tag Eldin, a number of African health ministers, heads of regulatory bodies, parliamentarians, representatives of international organisations, global health companies and foreign ambassadors.
The 2026 edition builds on the success of last year’s event, which brought together healthcare and trade stakeholders from more than 100 countries. This year, 387 exhibitors, 25 sponsors and 24 international partners are taking part, reflecting Egypt’s efforts to position the event as a continental platform for healthcare development and innovation.
Major national health bodies – including the Ministry of Health, the Unified Procurement Authority, the Egyptian Drug Authority, the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation, the General Authority for Healthcare, and the Universal Health Insurance Authority – are participating as key partners. Universities, teaching hospitals, regulatory agencies and national pavilions are also represented.
During their tour, Madbouly and Makut visited a number of Egyptian company pavilions, including ECMI, Wadi El‑Nil Benta, Acdima, the Vaccines and Biotechnology City, and Techno Wave. They reviewed medical manufacturing capabilities in pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, infant formula, ambulance production and supply‑chain development, as well as partnership plans to transfer medical technology to African countries.
The delegation also inspected pavilions of major international firms and foreign exhibitors, including Russian and Japanese companies, GE HealthCare, Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers and DAF Digital Solutions. They were briefed on innovations in medical imaging, sustainable MRI, ultrasound technologies, AI‑powered diagnostic tools, healthcare automation and biomedical engineering solutions.
Representatives of global companies praised their strategic cooperation with Egypt and expressed interest in expanding joint investments and transferring advanced medical technologies across Africa.
