Egypt, Swiss company STARK partner to boost electric motor manufacturing
In a move poised to enhance Egypt’s standing as a regional manufacturing hub, Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Switzerland’s STARK, a leading provider of electric motor technology. The agreement marks a significant step in localizing advanced manufacturing technologies in Egypt and fostering international collaboration.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital and was attended by Minister of State for Military Production, Eng. Mohamed Salah El Din Mostafa. The partnership focuses on the manufacturing and marketing of low-voltage electric motors, with power ranging from 0.25 to 300 kilowatts, within Egypt’s military production facilities. These motors will be produced according to the rigorous standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), ensuring competitiveness in both quality and technology.
Minister Mostafa emphasized the Egyptian government’s commitment to integrating the latest manufacturing technologies across its various sectors, both military and civilian. “In light of ongoing global changes and economic challenges, investing in local capabilities and international partnerships is essential for strengthening the national economy,” he stated. The minister also highlighted the strategic vision of the Ministry of Military Production to optimize its resources and technological expertise for high-quality civilian manufacturing, supporting national development projects alongside its military production.
Representatives of STARK praised the high standards and advanced capabilities of Egypt’s military production companies. They expressed their eagerness to collaborate, noting Egypt’s rapid progress and professionalism, as well as its supportive environment for investment. “This partnership opens new horizons for shared innovation and growth, built on both sides’ strengths and Egypt’s strategic position,” company officials said.
The agreement supports Egypt’s ambitions to become a regional center for the production and export of electric motors and control systems—a field increasingly important in the global push for industrial efficiency and sustainability.
The partnership between Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production and STARK reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to attract international expertise and advance its domestic manufacturing capabilities, contributing to economic development and opening new opportunities for both nations.
