Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi hosted Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto in Cairo today, with the meeting attended by Egypt’s Minister of Defense and Armed Forces General Commander, General Abdel Meguid Saqr, and Italy’s Ambassador to Egypt, Michele Quaroni.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, Minister Crosetto conveyed greetings from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, expressing appreciation for the historic ties between Egypt and Italy. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors, especially in military and security affairs, in response to the complex regional and international challenges both nations face. Both parties expressed commitment to continued cooperation and coordination in managing migration challenges.
In addition, the two sides reviewed ongoing regional crises in the Middle East, emphasizing the need to support peace efforts, uphold state sovereignty, and promote stability.
