Egypt welcomes France’s plan to recognize State of Palestine
Egypt warmly welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent announcement expressing France’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine. Egypt described this move as a historic milestone and a significant step in supporting international efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt praised the French decision and called upon all countries that have yet to do so to recognize the State of Palestine. The statement emphasized the importance of this recognition as a reaffirmation of the international community’s commitment to achieving a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue, supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, above all their right to self-determination.
Egypt also stressed the urgent need for intensified regional and international cooperation to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people. The statement highlighted the moral and legal responsibility of all United Nations member states and the Security Council to intervene in order to end the suffering, stop violations and hunger policies imposed by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Palestinian territories, and to safeguard regional and international peace and security.
