Egypt PM launches “Street of Art” initiative in downtown Cairo

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Thursday inaugurated the “Street of Art” initiative in Cairo’s downtown district, during a tour of the city’s historic centre, the government said.

Madbouly was received at the Al‑Borsa Triangle and Sherifeen Street by Nabila Hassan, head of the Academy of Arts, which is partnering with the Cairo governorate to implement the project.

Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber said the initiative forms part of a broader cooperation protocol between the governorate and the Academy of Arts under the Culture Ministry. The agreement aims to open “creative bridges” across the capital by expanding access to arts and nurturing young talent.

Saber said the “Street of Art” programme seeks to turn central Cairo’s streets into open spaces for artistic expression. He added that the partnership also includes the “Music and Arts Kiosk” project, which will bring musical and cultural performances to public parks and green spaces.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to revitalise downtown Cairo and promote cultural activities in the area.
