Sisi and Mohammed bin Salman reaffirm Egypt-Saudi partnership, discuss Gaza

Neom, Saudi Arabia - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today in the Saudi city of Neom with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, for comprehensive discussions followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders.

According to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman warmly welcomed President Sisi, expressing the Kingdom’s deep appreciation for its enduring and brotherly relations with Egypt. He emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, aiming to elevate these relations to greater and more sustainable heights in line with the countries’ shared vision for the future. The Crown Prince also praised Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting security, stability, and development across the region, citing its historical significance and strategic influence.

President Sisi, for his part, expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him in Saudi Arabia. He reaffirmed the strong bonds of affection and respect that the leadership and people of Egypt have for Saudi Arabia, underscoring the deep historical ties that unite both nations. President Sisi also expressed his eagerness to continue building on the recent transformation in bilateral relations, particularly in ways that enhance economic and commercial partnership and fulfill the aspirations of both peoples.

The discussions included in-depth talks on a number of bilateral cooperation files, with both sides underlining the importance of boosting joint investments and expediting the launch of the Saudi-Egyptian Supreme Coordination Council, which is expected to serve as a comprehensive framework for advancing relations on all levels. The leaders also agreed to initiate new partnerships in industrial integration, technology localization, transportation, new and renewable energy, and urban development.

Regional and international issues of mutual interest were also addressed, including the ongoing crisis in Gaza. The leaders reviewed Egypt’s extensive efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, in coordination with various parties, and reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Saudi peace initiatives—most recently, the outcomes of the “Two-State Solution” conference. They stressed the urgency of unhindered humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, the release of hostages and detainees, and strongly rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or re-impose Israeli military occupation on Gaza. Both leaders also called for an immediate halt to Israeli practices against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The spokesperson concluded by stating that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are determined to maintain continuous coordination and consultation, especially given the rapidly evolving developments in the Middle East. Both sides emphasized the importance of supporting the stability of regional countries and preserving the unity and integrity of their national institutions.

The meeting marks a significant step in deepening the strategic partnership between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with implications for both bilateral cooperation and regional stability.
