Egypt’s Prime Minister invites Chinese investment in green industries during Shanghai Cooperation Summit
During his visit to China to attend the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus” summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, met with Cai Qi, a senior Chinese political leader and Central Secretariat Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party. The meeting underscored the deepening partnership between Egypt and China as they approach the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Prime Minister Madbouly warmly invited Chinese companies to boost their investment in Egypt—particularly in electric vehicle manufacturing, water desalination technologies, and the production of components for solar and wind energy projects. Highlighting the success of Chinese firms in Egypt’s large-scale infrastructure and industry projects, he expressed hope for even closer economic cooperation, especially in green industries.
Chinese officials affirmed their government’s support for further investments in Egypt and stressed China’s commitment to expanding its cooperation, citing the successful industrial partnership in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Both sides also discussed major regional issues, including their mutual wish for lasting peace and humanitarian support in Gaza.
The meeting reflects both countries’ strong intent to advance their strategic relationship and open new opportunities for sustainable development and investment.
