Egypt condemns Israeli statements on annexing occupied West Bank

Egypt has strongly condemned recent statements by Israeli officials, including the Israeli Minister of Justice, calling for the annexation of the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, Egypt rejected these remarks, describing them as contrary to international law and aimed at entrenching the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories and undermining the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood.

Egypt reaffirmed its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, encompassing the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement also condemned ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank, such as military incursions, arrests, and the expansion of illegal settlements. Egypt expressed deep concern over these actions, especially as they coincide with what it described as grave violations in Gaza, undermining the fundamental rights and livelihoods of the Palestinian people.

Egypt called on the international community to take immediate action to end these violations and renewed its call for unified global efforts to support the aspirations of the Palestinian people—chief among them, establishing their independent state on their national land.
