Egypt receives over 700 flights after regional airspace closures

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr. Sameh El Hefny, announced that Egypt has successfully received over 700 aircraft after several neighboring countries closed their airspace due to recent military escalations between Israel and Iran.

Speaking to Egyptian media, Dr. El Hefny reassured that full coordination between relevant Egyptian authorities ensured the safety of Egypt’s airspace during this challenging situation.

He explained that countries such as Iraq and Jordan had to close their skies, leading many flights to either land in Egypt’s airports or fly through Egyptian airspace.

To prioritize passenger safety amidst regional tensions, EgyptAir, the national airline, canceled some flights to Iraq and Lebanon as a precautionary measure. The minister emphasized that some trips to destinations near the conflict zones have been postponed, while others have been rescheduled.

Dr. El Hefny assured that flights to Lebanon and Erbil (in Iraq) will resume as soon as the situation improves. He stressed that safety and security remain Egypt’s highest priorities in all aviation decisions.
