President Sisi and UK’s Prime Minister emphasize urgent Gaza ceasefire
In a telephone conversation today, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer made the urgent situation in Gaza their top priority, highlighting the need for an immediate ceasefire and the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
President Sisi stressed the importance of utilizing the current truce to halt violence in Gaza and provide much-needed assistance to its residents, emphasizing the international community’s responsibility to alleviate Palestinian suffering.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast commitment to a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Both leaders also expressed satisfaction over the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Iran, urging a return to diplomatic negotiations and calling for restraint from all parties to maintain regional stability and prevent the expansion of conflict.
Beyond regional affairs, President Sisi and Prime Minister Starmer reaffirmed the strength of Egypt-UK relations, expressing their mutual desire to deepen cooperation—particularly in the fields of economics and investment.
Prime Minister Starmer looked forward to President Sisi’s visit to London at the invitation of King Charles III, while President Sisi invited the British Prime Minister to visit Egypt within the year.
Prime Minister Starmer commended Egypt’s ongoing efforts to foster peace and stability in the Middle East and underscored the UK’s commitment to continued partnership and dialogue on key regional issues.
