Egypt and WHO boost cooperation on health
Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, met with Dr. Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, to discuss strengthening partnerships in health policy within Egypt’s national development plans.
Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized Egypt’s commitment to improving healthcare and integrating health priorities into broader development strategies, with support from WHO and other international partners. She highlighted Egypt’s move toward data-driven, evidence-based policymaking and announced plans for a new three-year, medium-term development plan starting in 2026/2027.
Dr. Balkhy praised Egypt’s progress in healthcare and its collaboration with the UN, while both parties agreed to expand the “Health in All Policies” approach—ensuring health is considered across all sectors of government policy.
