Egypt marks 71st military production day with honors, new defense innovations
Minister of State for Military Production Eng. Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa led the nation’s celebration of the 71st anniversary of Egyptian military industry at the Ministry’s Training Sector headquarters in Salam City.
The milestone commemorates October 23, 1954, when Factory 27 (Shubra Engineering Industries) produced Egypt’s first locally made ammunition round.
In his address, Minister Salah praised workers as “the cornerstone of our success,” stressing that President Sisi’s directives prioritize human investment, youth empowerment, and cutting-edge technology transfer to keep Egypt at the forefront of military manufacturing.
He highlighted sweeping upgrades across 20 affiliated companies: modernized production lines, advanced R&D labs, global quality systems, and strategic partnerships that now generate billions for the national economy through surplus civilian production.
A special documentary “Road to Success” traced the ministry’s heroic role in the 1973 October War—efforts that earned it the Republic Medal from President Anwar Sadat—and its evolution into a five-pillar powerhouse spanning manufacturing, research, IT systems, construction, and training.
During the ceremony, the Minister personally honored dozens of outstanding engineers, technicians, and veteran leaders, then held a press conference with accredited journalists.
Answering questions, Eng. Salah revealed that the upcoming EDEX 2025 (December) will showcase brand-new Egyptian-designed defense products never displayed before, all 100% made by Military Production companies.
“Every bullet fired in 1973 and every smart system we launch tomorrow carries the same spirit: Egyptian hands building Egyptian strength,” he declared.
